Pick multiple orders and multiple totes at once
Batch picking is a combination of Bulk/Wave picking. It allows pickers to pick multiple items for multiple orders at the same time. Orders which require the same SKU are combined into a single pick.
Unlike Bulk picking, Batch Picking forces the picker to scan a tote for each order, by product. When the tote is scanned the picker will pick all products from the bin for one order. Then the next tote is scanned to pick the same product for 2nd order until all products are picked from the same bin. The picker will now be navigated to the next nearest bin location. Because each tote is linked to an order and the system knows which products still need to be picked, it will inform the picker which tote to scan, so the picker could sort the right products into the right totes for the right order.
Once all products have been picked, the picker brings the totes to the packing station and the packer is able to pack all products for each order/tote.
Setup pick list plan - batch picking
Navigate to [Pick lists] > [Plans] and click [Create]. Or to get an overview of all Pick list Plans available first, click [Plans]. From this Pick list plans overview top-right corner, hover the [vertical ellipsis] and click [Create].
Once an appropriate Pick list Plan Name is entered, make sure the Pick List Type Batch is selected. Define a selection criteria based on the available tables selectable from the dropdown. Once the selection (set of rules) is applied, the list of Applicable (allocated) orders is presented at the bottom of the screen.
If this is a new Pick list plan, it requires to be activated first. Hover the [vertical ellipsis] and click on [Activate], then click on the [Update Pick list plan] button.
Now the Pick list Plan could be executed to generate the pick list for bulk picking. To do this, navigate to [Pick lists] > [Plans].
From this Pick list Plans overview, the Actions column will display the Release wave icon. Click on the [Release wave] icon to generate the pick lists for the applicable orders.
Once completed, navigate to [Pick lists]. This overview will show all Pick list, wether it belongs to a wave, bulk, batch or pick lists that were generated individually (outside a wave). For batch pick lists we display all related orders on one pick list.
To start picking assign (optional) the pick list to a Picker. Rather then displaying the order in the Pick Lists overview in the Pick App, we display the Pick List Plan Name, that shows the quantity to pick and the bin location to pick from.
